A message from Dr. Thomas
Dear patients and friends,
Just a quick word about the COVID-19 situation and how it affects Dentistry…
If you are experiencing a fever, cough, and shortness of breath, or have recently traveled internationally or domestically, please notify Carlos by a phone call or text before your appointment so we can schedule you according to the CDC 14-day waiting period.
All our incoming patients are screened at the front desk with a laser thermometer, and their temperature is logged in. If they have a low-grade fever of 98.7 or above, they will be referred to their physician for testing. If they screen as negative (98.6) or below, then they will wash their hands and get sterile gloves for their appointment.
As dentists, we use high-speed suction for ALL procedures, even cleanings.
Patients are required to pre-rinse with an antimicrobial solution to help prevent oral bacteria from being passed to us.
Since the AIDS epidemic of the 1990s, dentistry has been at the leading edge of proper sterilization and viral precautions. With that being said, I don’t want patients to be afraid of getting dental work done. Science has proven that an unhealthy mouth can suppress your immune system and thus lead to more susceptibility to viruses and bacteria. So, while surgical masks seem to be all the craze right now, a healthy mouth is vitally more important. Don’t be frightened of a dental appointment! We are NOT a medical office with 10-20 sick people in the waiting room! We treat one patient per hour, so please know you are SAFE in our office! Our practice is as a virus-safe as an operating room in a hospital.
So please wash your hands, take your vitamin C, and stay away from crowds of a 1000 people or more! We are just seeing emergency patients right now who are in pain for those of you who are having issues with this educational post!
